Scarlet

Scarlet.

Class: Elf
Gender: Female
Hair: Red
Eyes: Dark Purple
Skin: Pale

The situations and backgrounds that Scarlet has have changed in my mind over time, but what doesn't change is her ability to fight and wage war. She is a natural leader, though it isn't the direct and brash leadership you might expect.

Scarlet lives in a time where elves are oppressed, seen as the inferior race, and generally ill respected by the draconian lords of the land.

Civil war brews and Scarlet somehow finds herself in the middle of it all.

I'm basically noting this down for future reference, just getting thoughts out on paper.

Outfits

So I found Etsy. And Etsy... and steampunk, have given me some inspiration.

I've been recently dreaming up a scene/sequence where Scarlet is at some sort of fancy ball/party- but is armed to the hilt covertly.

and I wanted, mostly for myself, to describe what I think she would look like.

~~~~~~~~~~
Scarlet looked quite the picture, ruffles and satin exploding from her sleeves and skirt. Purple wasn't really her favourite colour, she much preferred working colours, black, green or brown. Scarlet smoothed her large skirt as she inspected herself in the mirror. She was dressed beautifully, but she knew that if she had to fight or get away, she'd be able to.
Her hair was strategically placed to hide her elven ears, and she wore a beautiful wide handcrafted hair band made out of gold and silver. Around her neck was a choker necklace, actually a modified piece of armour designed to protect her neck, but Scarlet had crafted and wrought it to make it look like a rather ornate necklace. Ornate but incredibly useful.
Her dress was purple satin, and to be honest Scarlet didn't hate it as much as she told her fellow conspirators. The dress was designed to button all the way up the back, and was stiffened and shaped with a whale-bone girdle so that she didn't have to wear a multitude of petticoats.
Underneath, she wore a light silk shirt and her favourite corset. Favourite because it had all sorts of hidden pockets and seams, and it was within this corset that she had hidden a surprising number of knives and daggers, as well as any number of other small but useful odds and ends.
Under the dress she wore a pair of tightly fitted but flexible pants, so that if she had to ditch the dress and get away, she wouldn't be indecent.
The sleeves of the dress hid the two leather arm braces that Scarlet refused to part with, knowing that they provided great protection in a knife fight.
Her shoes were the trickiest part of the whole ensemble, because one clearly can't wear boots with a ball gown. So instead, Scarlet opted for a pair of sturdy purple flats, reinforced and tightly bound to her feet with purple ribbon. They looked a little odd, compared to the dainty barely there shoes the other ladies would be wearing, but Scarlet didn't mind, hoping her dress would be gaudy enough to distract from her shoes.
With a last spritz of perfume, Scarlet took a deep breath and stepped out into the hallway. Treachery may be around the corner, but she felt ready.
